Article on DMCA Proposed Amendments

23rdJun. × ’06

Lee Hollaar, writing at IPI.org, has written an article discussing proposed legislation that would amend the copyright act and would effectively gut the anticircumvention section, 1201. Also interesting to read is this article on Techdirt that critiques Hollaar’s article.

I was curious, so I researched the bill discussed in the article. According to GovTrack, this bill was introduced on March 9, 2005 and was referred to the House judiciary committee. I’ve subscribed to the RSS feed from GovTrack for this bill, so I will be notified of its progress, i.e. if it should ever come out of the committee.
